About Me

My name is Kristy Herbel.  I have been working in the school system with children, parents and staff since 1996, as well as in private practice.  I am a rhythmic movement training consultant (RMTi), occupational therapist, and have training in Masgutova Neurological Reflex Integration.  I have seen amazing results utilizing a combination of these approaches to address difficulties experienced in every day life for all age clients.  I have recently added certification in Safe and Sound Protocol, and am excited to reach more clients with this sound therapy.  I look forward to meeting you, and learning more about your child, and reaching your goals for your family.

Services

Parent Coaching

This is a good place to start if you feel overwhelmed or struggle to know exactly what to focus on to meet the needs of your neurodiverse loved one.

Safe and Sound Protocol

Wellness plan / in person sessions

This can be used to help those with anxiety, PTSD, trauma, unschooling, obsessive compulsive disorder, emotional regulation difficulties, sensory processing differences.  A full reflex assessment and treatment program is beneficial before this step!

Available for local clients (near Dodge City, Kansas) only at this time.  I have a small therapy space in the basement, and we can work together to help your child.

Testimonials

Ms. Kristy was a Godsend for our family. We have a kiddo with ADHD and she only demonstrated kindness and patience to my child and to me- the parent.  Our child scored in the 6th percentile in Reading/English at the end of 2nd grade. We did not do tutoring or even pick up a book over that summer, but we did see Ms. Kristy once a week. Our sessions helped our child in more ways than we thought possible. Our goal was to help him focus more and maybe improve his school performance, which it did big time (that Reading/English score jumped to the 40th percentile in the fall of 3rd grade) but he also gained better basic coordination, strengthened eye muscles, and increased affection and bonding with loved ones. I would recommend

Kristy 1,000 times over!

FAQ here:

What do I do first to get things started?  Just scroll down to the contact form, and send me a message with a little bit of information about what you are looking for!

Do I have to commit to weekly sessions?  No!  I will work with your family's rhythm and schedule.  Options are: Monthly, Every other month, or Intensives during the summer.

What do I do during the session, since it is in your home?   Parents can be in the session, or just outside the door in a waiting area.  I will work directly with your child, and with you to carryover needed exercises and skill work at home.

What do I have to do at home?   I will work with families to design a home program that meets the needs of their child.  It is very important that you commit to completing the recommended exercises at home at least 5 times a week.   Neurological changes can happen with committment, and ONLY with committment.

What if I don't have time to do a home program?  It is best to be honest, and hold off on starting therapy,  until you are ready to commit to generalizing the therapy techniques to the environment that is most comfortable for your child.  They will make incredible progress- TRUST ME!
